Our au pair, Veronica, has been living with us for just over a month now. It has been great. She is great with Ezra, very interactive with him. As soon as he hears her voice in the morning he starts looking around for her, so I know he loves her.
I wasn't sure how it would be having another person in the house with us all the time. I was afraid I might feel like I had to entertain a guest 24/7. But it has really worked out well. Veronica is like one of the family. She eats meals with us, hangs out with us sometimes, goes out on her own or with a friend.
I was thinking the other day about how much she does besides take care of Ezra that we would have to be doing if he was in daycare. Things like his laundry, handling the cloth diaper delivery, and any baby related errands. We are very lucky to have this situation.
I think such a big part of why this works so well is that we have a good fit. Nick & I try to be very respectful of Veronica, and she is of us as well. She just so nice, so it's easy & fun to be around her.
