It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

After I ran over my ski at Snowshoe (with the car!) Nick offered to take me to Wintergreen for demo day to try out new skis. Alas, we were thwarted by the thickest fog I have ever seen in my life. We did however find a nice farm selling Christmas trees, so we picked up a beautiful frasier fir. The next day we went out to buy ornaments and then everone helped to decorate it.

Snowshoe December 2008

We had a wonderful weekend trip to Snowshoe a couple of weeks ago. Nick, Ezra & I were joined by Morgan and Ned Ormsby brought his kids Charlie and Jane. We stayed in a house in Cass and had a wonderful time together.

Hiking over the Holidays

While we were at Bear Lodge over Thanksgiving we were able to take a short hike over to Up Yonda Farm. They have beautiful walking trails and a world famous view of Lake George. Before we left I caught three generations of the Laiacona men for this great shot.

Even if you don't want this for yourself, you may know a special baby (or baby to be) that will want it!

Hanging Out with Cousin Sofia

This year we spent Thanksgiving at Bear Lodge with the Laiaconas, preceded by a short visit to Ithaca. Ezra got to spend some quality time with his cousin, I got to see my wonderful friends Bee, Amy & Danielle, and Nick got food poisoning.

Please Buy Local

With the economy as it is, times are tough for everyone. This is especially true for small, local businesses. One business local to Charlottesville is Nature's Child. I hope to encourage as many people as possible to shop with them for children's gifts. They have a fantastic website and free shipping in the Charlottesville Area. This store has very good prices and top quality products. It is owned and run by moms too, so they are always able to give great advice too! Another wonderful local store with great values (of both kinds) is Blue Ridge Eco Shop. They have products for healthy living for adults and children.

Ezra's Christmas Wishes

Before Ezra was born our friends Fran and Rochelle gave us Angel Dear blankies. We have Ducky and Froggy. He started sleeping with them pretty early, and now it appears to be his lovey of choice. The only thing is, they get dirty very quickly, so Ezra is hoping that he will get one or two other animals to add to his collection for Christmas

.

Ezra has started putting things together to see how they look. He loves to examine anything he can pick up. I think a nice set of blocks, like one of the several sets Haba offers, would be something he will play with for years. We love the Haba brand because they are very careful about the materials they use, and the colors are fantastic. Their toys emphasize wood and cloth rather than plastic and flashing lights. The Nature's Child in Charlottesville http://www.thenatureschild.com/ sells some Haba things and ships for FREE in Charlottesville.

This interactive book by Haba is adorable. I think they have this one, or one very similar, at Nature's Child.

On second thought, maybe we should skip the last one. They might have already filled the part of the drunken elf.

A visit with Sophia

Mile Markers

Although I love the photos, I had better note some of the important things happening in Ezra's life these days. He has started on solid foods. It was a bit rocky at first. Nothing seemed very appealing in the taste department. Fortunately, the desire to eat won out and now Ezra seems pretty excited when he sees food. So far he has tried avocado, banana, oat & rice cereals.

As of today, Ezra has 3 teeth. Two on the bottom and one on top. There is a 4th about to pop through.

Sitting is getting stronger by the day. He can balance for about 5 seconds and is just starting to catch himself a little when he starts to lean.

Ezra is a very happy baby. He chatters and squeals. He smiles and laughs. He also has his quiet moments when he is busy observing life going on around him. His personality reminds me so much of Nico. He is so enthusiastic and loving, yet seems to have a very patient side also. Some people would say he gets that from his dad I guess...

Veronica has been such a joy to have with us. Ezra adores her, and I think the feeling is mutual. She is very careful to follow whatever protocol Nick & I set regarding any new developments. I still have moments of mommy guilt that I am not home with him all of the time, but they are offset by knowing what a wonderful relationship he is building with Veronica.
